Leith Churches Holiday Club 2022: Fit for a King? Crafts, drama, games, prayer, challenges, people getting wrapped up in paper…… it was all happening at the YMCA Edinburgh in Leith in July! We had about 45 children (from 15 different schools) at our Holiday Club, getting ‘fit for a King’. This year’s material was written in Scotland (Yeah!) and kept us closely linked with the fun and fury at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Community Craft Corner @ Ocean Terminal, October 2021 – present
Since October 2021, we have run a Community Craft Corner in the Community Space in Ocean Terminal, during the school holiday week, for children aged 5-12 (but anyone young at heart is welcome). With a wonderful and creative team from 7 different churches in Leith, the kids and accompanying parents, relatives and friends have a great time, planting cress, making fish mobiles and much more!
In 2022, we ran an Easter workshop in Holy Week, also in the Community Space – creating a ‘journey to Jerusalem’ on the wall, a small Easter garden, some beautiful Easter eggs and more (chocolate eggs to take home to families also made an appearance). We plan to do this on Wednesday-Thursday 8-9 April this year. Keep an eye on our Home Page or the Ocean Terminal website for an update.
Space Academy: Leith Churches Holiday Club 2021
What does Space Academy have to do with the story of Daniel? We found out at the Holiday Club, which took place during the hottest week of the year so far….. As always, we had a great team of volunteers from several different churches, who kept going despite the hot weather! The kids produced some wonderful craftwork and a good time was had by all. At the end of each morning, the drama took us on the journey of the Starship Persevere through the Delta Quadrant, and followed the crew’s battle with the evil Odor. Leith Churches Holiday Club 2020 (16-20 July) had a great week, with over 60 children and a wonderful volunteer team from different churches in Leith. The Olympic theme resulted in some excellent art and craft work (eg. Olympic torches and miniature athletes) and the drama proved popular too! Click on the link to read more and see some photos.
